DeliveriesI think it is important to focus on deliveries but linking everything to 7500 deliveries is a mistake. The 7500 line will be in a regular motion like any other program lines in the last 30 years. If it takes 2 months more then it is not that big of a deal. Most 7500 we are talking about are already 95% completed and only a few loose ends need to be ticked in the box and sometimes you wait for a stupid 20$ washer to finish the job. I can tell you that the assembly lines and the completion lines arte not slowing down because there are late deliveries. Have you ever heard of a MOD line? Well, every new program has a mod line and the 7500 was definitely longer than usual but it is a clean sheet out of the ordinary airplane. (note: a mod line is where last minute changes are incorporated in a new program on already completed aircrafts)
I think that what we want to see is Bombardier meeting its overall cash flow, inventory and EBIT target for Q4 and while 7500 has definitely an influence, the overall performance from Bombardier will come from all programs and divisions such as Bombardier Transport & Bombardier Aviation.
So if we are in the ball park of delivery commitments then we are in good shape. CS Addick does a good job of monitoring those so let's see where we are at until Dec 31st.
I can tell you then from whay I hear, staff is working hard on week/weekend long schedules, many will not take much Holidays.
There are challenges but never bet against Bombardier in a fourth quarter. Look at historical price action for BBD.B shares in late Q4-Q1 in the last 30 years.
I am long and added quite a bit Friday in this whacky day.
