RE:Why the consensus on nuclear power is wrong

RE:Why the consensus on nuclear power is wrongGood article to forward, thanks MMorf. The absolute public/government overreaction to Nuclear Power plant accidents is stunning to me . This dam burst in 1975 directly killed 170,000 due to drowning and starvation. Did humans ban all dams after this?? Whether for Hydro or flood control ? Of coure not and it certainly helped that the Chinese government kept this very much under wraps. Very few have ever heard of this man made disaster which could in fact be the largest loss of life in one single event ever due to man.

How many people died specifically after Three Mile Island ?? Not many. Chernobyl - depends on who you believe but not as many as claimed. Fukushima how many died - well more people died by being moved away from the area and lacking medical care than died to radiation exposure.

Sometimes people as I have said are not as smart as they think they are. Is solar the answer? Have had some nice solar lights in the yard for 4 years now - kept them clean and yet they produce maybe 1/4 of their original power after a sunny day. And of course after 2 cloudy days -  no power.

How are 2014 to 2017 solar panels performing going into 2020 ? Anybody have any stats of how well a 5 year old solar panel's efficiency compares to new ?

15 % of global baseline power will be solar/wind/bio etc which is great. Maybe (maybe) someday 25% but that is a stretch. But what about the remaining 75-85 % of baseload power ?

If I am a Nuclear power utility purchasing guy and with all this news of Uranium possible shortage/prices need to rise blah, blah , blah, why not line up and commit to LT contracts now ?
This U herd is tightly knit indeed. And they invest and read all this as well, so wonder what is really going on behind the scenes.......

They buy U shares at the bottom - control the whole Uranium contracting process in their dark room meetings every Thursday night and then pull the trigger on LT contracting only when they have no choice - and make a killing on their U shares.. just maybe ??
