RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:I Told You That This LIMP Dog Was A Capex MUNCHER !!!mick.... i believe your first point nails it.
Investors are leaving the name for now to seek better returns elsewhere.
Investors time horizons are shorter when markets are in a historic bull market where record highs are hit daily it seems and fortunes are being made
With SU & CNQ, its not so much that they are trusted more, but they are producing lots of free cash flow and they are doing it in a low oil price environment.
As far as investers appetite for fossil fuels?  Most investors follow the money.
If pipelines get built and oil price goes up (not to high where it kills demand), and cdn energy companies are producing free cash, investors will come back.
And with some of that free cash they want small div increases and buybacks.

The tide will lift all boats but the better operators will trade at higher multiples.
HSE has to plan the business for the future and not worry about stock price today but they have to be mindful on their compensation packages till they turn it around.
Main way for shareholders to show their displeasure is to drive the stock even lower.
