You couldn't be  ore wrong than with what you wrote. Companies who have established themselves and have a huge balance sheet may give back to sharesholders by way of a dividend or by buying the company's shares if ey deem that the shares are way undervalued and it's the best way to use the cash on hand.
Growth companies use their cash to increase shareholder value by the drill bit and advancing their projects.Otherwise they would end up with no money and would have to dilute shareholder value by issuing more shares.Get it?
