RE:RE:RE:Alternate Shift Issue

RE:RE:RE:Alternate Shift IssueI know some who love this alternate shift with an extra day or two off but many despise it. Maybe the CEO & bean counters should take it on for awhile and maybe their atitude will change.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Get over it.    RCMP work 4 day 12 hr day shifts then take two off and repeat 4 12s night shifts    They do it for their whole careers 25 years plus.   And their alertness has to be much more astute than any plank jockey.     Drivers on the highway or logging are allowed 15 hrs on duty of which 13hrs can be behind the wheel.     Most drivers are adverse to putting in less hours as it vastly reduces their paychecks.

Jim Pattisson spent his lifetime hitting his office by 4 am  and is usually there for 10 to 12 hrs.  and at times even on weekends managing his numerous enterprizes.     He is close to 90 now.

from the time I left school I refused to take measley 8 hr jobs.   It limited my  earning ability.    I simply refused to allow my idleness to short change the wants and needs of my self and familly.

If you want more time at home, Sign a contract for 10 hr shifts 4 days on and 4 off.   This allows all workers to rotate equally thru the preffered and non preffered shifts.
It also allows the company to run seven days a week with two hrs between shifts for millrights to servive and repair.
WEF would probably be happy with such an arrangement.   And it gives workers 4 day.
weekends every week for recreation and familly time.   With no loss of income.

I know it works we did so and the men liked it.
