You only lose if the stock hits zero or you sell. I watched this stock. Bought in cheap, sold for a small (read very small) profit and told myself there were too many shares out to ever make it enticing for me. When it went down to 7 cents I looked at the chart and thought I saw a glimmer. Must've been a trap. So now it'll sit gathering dust in my tfsa until the Americans make it legal. Guess I can consider myself lucky I didn't spend much and I feel for those that did. Good luck all.
