Not very convinced with that example but anyway think it all depends how much you like / need the beer and how much $ you can afford. If you can spend only $1,50 a day and need the beer,  you might choose two illegal? If you are able to spend more and you only like one you might choose the legal one.

Beside all the risk and uncertainty of the illegal drugs in many (not all) cases I rather suggest to think about to whom you pay your money. Are this some smart growers with a good quality w/o pesticides or other harmful additives or are this criminals who are using the money for more illegal crimes?

Talking about the illicit trade prices you also need to consider that there's no tax or other fees that is used for our daily life like e.g. health or social insurance, education,  public transportation, etc. The illegal growers don't offer you or your neighbors a job. Have you ever heard about a research program for medical applications on serious diseases from the black market?

I join in the need to reduce the prices but I hope that the consumers act responsible and switch to the Legal market if they can afford.
