RE:RE:RE:All I'm askingPersonally, I don't believe that COVID-19 is a bio weapon. We knew it was just a matter of time for something on this scale to happen. I just watched a new documentary series on Netflix called Pandemic which was produced prior to this new virus emerging. It was interesting and scientists are continually watching animal populations for viruses that could jump to humans. Personally, I see this becoming a pandemic. It is very close to being declared one.
If one looks at the deadly flu pandemic of 1918 -1920, it came in 4 waves. The 2nd wave was far deadlier than the 1st wave had been. However, we have the potential of creating a vaccine within the next 2 years which is something that could not have happened a century ago. But between now and a potential vaccine being created, produced and used, the reality is that we will see this sweep across the world with devastating consequences. This virus is highly transmissable and current estimates are that 70 to 80% of the world's population could become infected. At the current estimate of 2% morbidity, a 70% infection rate would mean that 112 million deaths would occur. Now, we don't know if this will mutate. Will the morbidity rate decline or increase? Will it die out like the influenza did from a century ago? We don't know.
A doctor in Canada has said what most of us know and that is we don't have the medical staff nor the medical facilities to deal with a pandemic. Our health system is already overburdened. This doctor said "I think there would have to be hard decisions made about who lives and who dies, given our limited availability by both speciality and (intensive-care) beds and we would probably see some degree of health-care rationing," he says...
Which brings us to TLT and it's treatment for bladder cancer in Ph 2. If this virus affects us in North America like it is in China, then it is quite possible that this trial will not have the medical staff not the medical facilities to complete this Ph 2 study. It would be delayed until such time as the pandemic ended. This virus could throw a real wild card into this Ph 2 trial. BUT at the moment COVID-19 has only 9 cases in Canada so we are not currently dealing with any major problems with this virus.
Of course, only God knows how this will play out. But judging from what one can see today, this will have devastating global implications and potentially consequences for the completion of this Ph 2 trial in the time currently indicated if the virus infects a significant portion of the North American population.
