this is a present value. The value will increase with the increased margins and in the rapid increase of their aftermarket revenue. The news are a wash with Bombardier opening service centres all around the world.
if the governments (Feds and provincial) step up (as they should ) they could boost our national strategic asset by
1) refinancing the debt with much reduced interest
2) placing orders on Global jets for the military's surveillance planes (US military has Bombarier jets like that). Last year, not a single Canadian submarine went under the water, at least they could use surveillance planes for patrolling
3) military drones
4) Global 7500 planes for both federal and provincial governments (Germany orders these plans for their government)
5) Canada Pension fund has recently bought millions of Bbd.b shares and they could buy more now as it is guaranteed to create value for all Canadians as shares are extremely undervalued now
and if Alstom deal fails then that could be a huge blessing in disguise if the governments step up their game. So far, their role was detrimental and they failed to recognize the value of BT.
