RE:An interesting developmentOPEC+ has been cutting back production to maintain prices above shale's break even price over and over. They continue to lose market share to shale. This time when faced with the option of further cutbacks or just letting the price fall and letting shale do the cutting back they chose the later. This coronavirus driven drop in demand is the perfect environment to wipe out a good chunk of shale production and regain market share. Yes a drop in shale oil production will be beneficial to nat gas producers. Ovintiv should be a beneficiary but their share price is behaving like a highly leveraged high cost oil producer. Look at the shares of Cog, rrc, eqt their supposed competition or aav, bir in Canada. Nevermind how ovv shares have been dropping like a rock even before OPEC+ fell apart. Isn't anyone else's Spidey sense tingling? Seriously how do you explain what's happened? It can't be just a bunch of shorts who hate the new name. It can't be just not qualifying for some index because in this market environment all the indexes are getting sold. On Monday it was the worst performer of all stocks.
