WHO Declares Covid-19 An PandemicNot good for people (dieing) and not good for the economy. With regards to Viemed's business, it is hard to see how this envirnoment would only boost its overall business. Up to now, it has been too early as most people were simply hoping this virus would go away. Given, we are now officially in a pandemic situation and the virus has gained traction in the US, I think we may see some of the impacts having a positive impact on VMD over the next few months (nothing happens over night unfortunately):
1) couldn't be a better time to get the SMART Bill passed. Viemed and the entire industry needs to put full efforts into encouraging the representatives to quickly move this forward. This is not the time for the competitive bid process to put stress on the NIV industry and also to put more companies out of business. I will be surprised if we don't hear something on this front over the next month or so (having said that, politicans move slow and are unpredicable);
2) sales should pick up as everyone including doctors are aware of the importance of keeping patients out of the hospitals. You would hope things might move faster even at the VA given this environment where Covid-19 is now considered a pandemic.
3) VMD's clincial team could certainly be leveraged to assist with the increasing demand which will be placed on the health care sector over the next few months if not longer.
