So many lives are at risk - employees, companies, investors. I think you're correct in that Canada's oil business has been on the downturn since 2016 and have never really quite recovered. With no pipelines the majors have focused on deleveraging while our neighbors to the south have been either buying assets at insane valuation (Oxy / Anardaco), increasing debt to drill or paid shareholders with high unstable dividends. Hopefully this is like the 2008/2009 where Canadian heavies remain due to their conservative business nature.
