What's pathetic is the fake news reporting. Trump merely stated that the FDA approved chloroquine for testing specifically for efficacy vis-a-vis COVID-19. He did not say it was FDA-approved for general use.
It has been in use for decades as treatment for malaria, auto-immune diseases, and in some cases for arthritis. Whoever wrote the news update was in error when he said the FDA spokesman contradicted the president's claim since he made no such claim.
Note there is another possible serious side effect from the use of chloroquine and that is QT prolongation which can lead to heart rhythm problems.
