When it was obvious that merger won't be closed, with a Macron support Alstom started thinking of taking over and Bombardier. Bombardier was there since the begining, even they offered Bombardier to be part of Alstom/Siemens merger and B. refused that. So Macron's dream of creating an EU rail giant started to dewelope soon after Alstom/Siemens deal was canceled. So now without UK there is no question that Brussels will be against this one since Macron himself give political blessing and without UK, closing of this deal is just a formality.
