I am very aware the people who run BAM are value investors.   

We are both going to look like "dummmmies" if BAM privatizes BPY anywhere below our ACB's.  That would be called a "realized loss". 

I have no idea what you mean when you say BAM is to BPY as BPY is to BAM.  Yes, BAM is a parent of BPY and BPY is a subsidiary of BAM, but what is your point?
