RE:PI Financial Micro TradesGood question LandyJ. I've wondered about the same thing..
Looked it up, and .....It seems trading in odd lots is PI's role and responsibility (probably dating from their role as sponsor of IPO of Oroco back in 2008) as the designated Odd Lot Dealer whose role it is to provide liquidity for odd lot orders(less than 500 shares, I think). They're required to provide liquidity for odd lots at the posted bid or ask. And, re the question of whether these trades signal anything......
Odd Lot Dealers do not have any proprietary pre-trade information or access to information regarding trade order entry of other participants. https://www.tsx.com/trading/tsx-venture-exchange/order-types-and-features/odd-lot-dealer-program
Another question I have when I seen these trades is, with no past consolidation of its shares that might have created odd numbered holdings, how is it that people have or are trading these unusual numbers?
