The shutdowns by various producers are going to put additional upward pressure on the price of gold! Law of supply and demand or as Buc says demand for cheeseburgers!
Of interest, John Thornton, former chairman of Barrick, sold half his holdings in that company! I guess he knows that there will be shutdowns in their mines and suspects ABX will drop on account. Good to be an insider!

I wouldnt follow what that pansy does. Hired hand in need of a haircut is all he ever was. Sold out a great canadian company. Peter would have rolled over in his grave. Personally I dont think this will affect KL much as the gold stays in the ground. Aem had a temporary drop when it announced the same but has since been tracking the pog. I will be buying more abx though, not that I dont like KL, but because they might not be so quick to close mines in shall we say less rigid jurisdictions.

There is also a new shift by mainstream institutional investors into blue chip gold mining shares.
