Leadership???Hi All,
Yesterday Torstar announced it was eliminating 85 positions across the company. Terminating these employees and not furloughing them was a gutless move as they could do it without having to face these devastated individuals. The kind of classless behaviour many have come to expect from this regime. The story was covered in The Star. Boynton was quoted as follows: “We waited to see what steps the government would be taking and whether we’d be eligible. And that’s one of the reasons we’re cutting 3 per cent of our workforce. Some media companies are cutting 40 or 50 per cent,” said Boynton. The Torstar board and executive leadership team will be taking a 20 per cent pay cut, and the company is putting a hold on the bonus program.
So Boynton will have his base salary reduced to a modest $600,000 and the useless Board of Directors will "suffer" a 20% reduction in their ridiculous fees as an austerity measure. Honderich will "earn" $220,000 to preside over the cluster fornication.
The pandemic will shield them from facing shareholders at the AGM. They should be outraged by this complete and utter lack of leadership. You can be sure Boynton will find a way to line his pockets after this crisis passes and Honderich will be there to enable it.
