2021Aurora Cannabis shares hit hard after reverse stock split announcement, seeks US$350M financing raise

Shares of Aurora Cannabis fell by double-digit percentages on Monday, making it one of the biggest losers on the S&P/TSX Composite Index, after the pot producer said it would conduct a reverse stock split aimed at preventing the company's stock from being delisted from U.S. markets. Aurora said it will consolidate shares on a 12:1 basis effective May 11. Aurora also said it would issue a new prospectus to raise an additional US$350 million in a new at-the-market equity raise. Analysts were mixed on the announcement, with Jefferies' Owen Bennett saying the news doesn't suggest a "particularly positive near term outlook."
