RE:ShortsI do not believe that short positions on the TSX nor NASDAQ for one company are covered by the merged entity listing. You either cover your shorts or you lose them totally.
Right now, about the short positions on Stars are running at about 3%. My belief (subject to being corrected) is that this will be down to 0% on day of transfer. I don't expect much spike as a result of a short squeeze at that moment. I think we already seeing a short squeeze in Flutter though. Those remain in play at time of merger, so have no clue what will happen there. If there is good news at time of merger beyond what we know, then those shorts are likely to get severely squeezed...
We are now within just 22 trading days of the end of May. As the Stars press release had said "by end of May", that is the maximum that we stay listed on the TSX and NASDAQ. Could be tomorrow as it could be at end May. They have been known to surprise before :)...Shorts beware!
