The answer you won't hear: "We appointed them as directors because we believed they shared our love of incompetence and would do whatever we told them.  We didn't do our due diligence. 

We were looking for idiots (IQ of 0–25)  who would spend all their director's fees on buying shares.  Instead, we overshot and recruited morons (IQ of 51–70) that simply won't buy the stock."
