I am also not American and you are well within your rights to deem me as stupid, although I'm not sure what that says about yourself.
My opinion, and it is just an opinion, from someone sitting on the outside looking in, is that the single biggest obstacle, the single biggest detriment, to any kind of harmony in the U.S. is the "mainstream media". They are over and above, but complicit with, the Democrat Party. They control at least 70% of the print and radio and TV content that arrives in American households every day. And they also influence the news around the world, including here in Canada, by their affiliations with all of the local stations. A perfect platform for brainwashing, and they are consumed or obsessed in that regard. If they were reasonably balanced it would be acceptable. Even if they were 60 - 40 it might be begrudgingly acceptable, but when they are 96% negative regardless of the subject, or the topic, then that is completely out of line for being "fair and balanced" reporting and is a complete mockery of the word "reporting". I can't recall the last time they were 'reporting' -- it is all voicing their own personal opinion. It turned me off back in the Ferguson days (I used to be a CNN fan) when the likes of Don Lemon carried on for days on end, 24/7, with just unmitigated opinion of the scene we were watching. What a pile of 'xxxx'. It has since carried on for over 3 years and it certainly did not take me long to decipher what I was seeing and what they were telling me I was seeing. Maybe that comes with 80 years of experience.
I may not have a high opinion of Trump as a person and I may think he puts his mouth in motion before putting his brain in gear at times 'but' he was elected as the President for a minimum period of 4 years and should be given the opportunity to do that job without obstruction after obstruction after obstruction. If he fails then there is another vote to replace him. That's the way the system works -- not the way it has been carried out.
I have/had a relative in the media who happened to be visiting me the summer after Trump was elected, and he said one evening, in a very emotional, agitated tone, "we will do anything and everything within our power to take him out". And this past 3 years has certainly shown that that is the track they have been on.
We talk about 'fear' or 'fear of the unknown' as being the big factor of dealing with the Covid-19 virus, and that fear, or the amount of it, is driving people in both directions -- those that feel the need to "get back to work" from an economic point-of-view and those that have been driven by so much fear by some sensationalism by that same media that they feel their lives are being compromised. It sets up confrontation, again, and that fits the media narrative.
The other obvious or visible 'fear' factor is in the Democratic Party - along with their media partners - the fear that they are in a weak position going into the next 170 - 180 days - so their program is being heightened. Adam Schiff and all his compratiots have already started a plethora of investigations to try to make Trump and the administration look like abject failures in their handling of the pandemic and everything they do will be glorified and enhanced by the media on a wish and a prayer that the public at large will reject Trump. (anything and everything in their power -- and they're running short on time).
As I say, if the media was even close to showing some kind of fair and balanced reporting the whole scene down there would be a much different picture.
You can see it your way and I will see it my way, but I will refrain from calling you stupid, I have enough years under my belt to recognize the source.
I prefer to put more weight on what he is accomplishing as opposed to the make up of the individual himself. And yes, I realize he is nowhere close to being the orator, speech maker, and debater that Obama was but as I learned many, many years ago the smooth talkers were not usually the ones that got the job done. Maybe in your job you have not recognized that, or maybe you are a smooth talker -- yes, bullshlt baffles brains.
