The shorts aren't going anywhere until FIRE.DB trades at a YTM of 15% or less which means over 90 from 30 now. That doesn't mean the stock can't go up but there will be lots of supply.

None of the conspiracy theories and whining about manipulation and or shorts matters. It's pretty simple. They have a lot of debt to pay and investors are looking for evidence of how they will pay. Hopefully, it's a lot of free cash flow but otherwise they will have to sell equity / treasury shares (for those that think those are different things).

Why fight the shorts on the equity? There aren't any shorts on the bonds and they still trade at 30. Plus the float cap is only about $6m vs the market cap of the company at around ~$100m. Which one do you think has a better chance of going up if you sell stock to buy bonds?
