I figured this is how SPR would mature, assuming they became successful and were able to establish scale with multiple customers. Leave the low margin components of growing weed and product manufacturing to someone else, and simply provide the 'juice'. It seems that's what SPR has in mind anyway when Dolo gave that 'Splenda' reference some time back.
IMO one key variable that can make the above happen is the strength of the patent and it's enforceability. If others are able to slightly modify the process enough to circumvent the patent then SPR's value prop gets diluted big time. The fact that the pending patent continues to be hidden kind of worries me that it may be easier to modify and get similar results. Hopefully there's a more innocuous reason - something like hiding it from Canadian competitors while they go through the patent process in th US. Sen's a smart guy so I'm banking he's got it all figured out :)
