Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, the Cannabis Operations Manager – Beverages, will primarily be responsible for the day-to-day production and management of labour for optimal beverage production at the production facility located in Stellarton, NS. The Cannabis Operations Manager – Beverages will play a crucial role in liaising with quality and regulatory teams ensuring compliant and operationally efficient processing while meeting strict production schedules of multiple cannabis infused beverages.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage HYTN’s Stellarton Production Team and lead in developing and maintaining operational plant programs to ensure the highest of quality and compliance under the Cannabis Act/Regulations, working cross-departmentally with facility Quality Team
- Coordinate all production schedules to ensure staffing coverage and efficiency of plant operations
- Established and meet Key Performance Indices to ensure operations are operating at maximum capacity and fulfilling open POs within industry norms
- Manage supply chain to ensure inventory is adequate and not limiting production capacity
- Responsible for the overall facility production targets, cost targets, cash flow and business goals and objectives
- The ongoing measurement and effectiveness of all processes
- The identification and implementation of continuous improvements to processes and procedures for improving efficiency and effectiveness
- Reviewing risk assessments and testing results, identifying control gaps, communicating any gaps to management and key personnel within the line of business, and ensuring management remediation plans have been implemented and progressing in a timely manner
- Proactively collaborates with the Executive Team and Department Heads to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the organization
- Identifies critical talent requirements and works with key stakeholders to attract, recruit and retain the required talent and capabilities not currently in place to solidify the organizational structure necessary to support future growth
- Develop and implement training programs around plant operations and record keeping compliance and continuously assess training gaps
- Keep accurate records and ensure documentation is readily accessible and highly organized
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices for the provisions of the Cannabis Act and Cannabis Regulations
- Other duties as required
REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that plant operations of the licensed site comply with the requirements of the Cannabis Regulations;
- Oversee processing of cannabis extract
- Submit, secure and maintain a valid security clearance
BACKGROUND:
- A Bachelor degree in Engineering or Business discipline is an asset
- 5+ years of experience in operations and production management, with experience in the perishable food, agri-business, pharmaceutical or beverage industry
- Cannabis product production and processing experience strongly preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Strategic thinking with effective project management, facilitation and presentation skills
- Strong problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills and ability to develop working relationship with the business leaders within the company
- Knowledge of Operating regulations and the regulatory environment in the context of Operating and risk management framework.
- Applied knowledge of Good Production Practices
- Experience in procurement, commissioning and qualification of manufacturing equipment and plant service equipment.
- Knowledge of and experience in LEAN Manufacturing and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), preference being given to experience in agribusiness
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Provincial and Federal Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and make decisions or recommendations based on incomplete or conflicting information
- Effective team building skills
- Demonstrated confidence in challenging mind-set, influencing business managers while developing/implementing innovative strategies and approaches to support the corporate goals
- Demonstrated ability to implement innovative tactics and encourage others to demonstrate creative approaches
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate complex information clearly and persuasively to create engagement and support across multiple levels within the organization
- Knowledge and compliance with GPP is an asset
- Valid security clearance an asset

SALARY:
- Commensurate with experience and qualifications
- 55,000 – 65,000 plus bonus plan
