But, what's your take? 

If there were a standalone offer the bar has already been set at 0.5 shares for each share of GCC.  Does nothing happen and then along comes SVM later to attempt an acquisition of GOLDX thus completing the merger that GCC was unable to?

I wouldn't put it past SVM to try to do that. The prize here is GLDX. They certainly smartened up their predatory bid when the competiton came in. A link between GUY and GLDX seems to make sense based on the proximity and the potential synergies.  I have been patient for years on this one and I have no desire to get screwed over here.
