Day 21 of the National Recount
Ballots contained in 84 boxes were counted today as Day 21 of the recount of votes cast in the March General and Regional Elections came to an end this evening at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre (ACCC), Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown.
According to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM)’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Yolanda Ward: 19 boxes for Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara) were counted; 15 for Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica); 21 for Region Six (East Berbice/Corentyne); and 10 for Region Seven (Cuyuni/Mazaruni); 10 for Region Eight (Pomeroon/Supenaam); and 9 for Region Nine (Upper Takutu/Upper Essequibo).
With regards to tabulation, some 1254 Statements of Recount were processed for the General and 1,253 for Regional Elections.
Today’s exercise brings all boxes processed to 1,287 or 55% of the 2,339 boxes that contained ballots cast in these elections. GECOM now has 4 days to complete the remainder of the boxes.
