I would say the article is just a reflection of the ACT era we find ourselves in....this B rated movie stars immunotherapy, not PDT. PDT acts as the extra or "adjuvant" to immune checkpoint blockade. Again, the immunotherapy brigade got it backwards. Sure, PDT can work as a nice adjuvant if your photosensitizer is NOT TLD-1433. The beauty of TLD-1433 is in its ability to completely "wipe out" cancer in its tracks with just a single blow (just ask P5 & 6)...while also eliciting a strong immunostimulatory effect.
My interpretation of the article... if anything needs "adjuvant" help, it's immunotherapy. The IT brigade will soon need to pull their heads out of the sand & see that a new & better PDT "replacement" model is coming off the assembly line...
