August Gold Contract-Highest Gold Settlement Level in 8 yrs COMMODITIES: August Gold Contract Reportedly Posts Highest Settlement Levels In Near 8 Years
01:52 PM EDT, 06/23/2020 (MT Newswires) -- August gold settled Tuesday up $15.60, or 0.9%, at US$1,782 an ounce on some safe haven buying amid concerns that an ongoing rift between the United States and China may yet scupper their most recent trade deal, and with that start a fresh trade war that would have a negative impact everywhere. An increase in the number of people hit by the COVID-9 virus in countries such as the U.S. has also prompted safe haven buying as it raises the possibility of renewed lockdowns and restrictions. This was the highest finish for a most-active contract since Oct. 4, 2012, according to FactSet data, MarketWatch reported.
