Alternate Symbol(s):  ZPTAF | T.SGY.DB.B

Surge Energy Inc. is a Canada-based oil focused exploration and production (E&P) company. The Company's business consists of the exploration, development and production of oil and gas from properties in Western Canada. It holds focused and operated light and medium gravity crude oil properties in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, characterized by large oil in place crude oil reservoirs with low recovery factors. It offers exposure to two of the five conventional oil growth plays in Canada: the Sparky and SE Saskatchewan. It holds a dominant land position and is drilling a mix of horizontal multi-frac and horizontal multi-lateral wells in the Sparky area. Sparky is a large, well established oil producing fairway in Western Canada. SE Saskatchewan is a focused operated asset base with light oil operating netbacks. SE Saskatchewan operates low-cost wells with short payouts and offers potential for continued area consolidation.

Many companies would like to sell some production or other assets to reduce debt. 2 problems.... who is the buyer? 2) What is the price?

after re-reading the release, I'm going between the lines on this one. Sgy is clearly not under the short term distress most other small caps are under and wants investors and others to know it will survive and thrive at $40 oil. I get this 'vibe' that the board/mgmt have been offered a friendly merge or takeover transaction but the price is far too low. I further sense an unfriendly offer may be in the works.....hence the blue sky messaging on sparky that it's worth a lot more than any stock price under $1 would reflect. There are so many fish in the sea they are jumping into boats so a potential buyer may just move on to another target more desperate than sgy.

Bang on!
I was expecting a friendly merger announcement last week! I think that Surge is now preparing for a hostile takeover and Headwater still is the suitor!
