Even with service fees paid up front, DDC doesn't have enough clients at the moment to cover their operating costs (advertising, consulting fees, office, R&D). Also, nobody is talking about getting scammed, you should realize that it is healthy to challenge your investment thesis and acknowledge that certain business risks exists :)
