Today I value a gold company (among other criteria) for its production pipeline in respect to eoy POG.  To have a production pipeline you need reserves and a safe covid environment in which to mine.  IMO the ability of Australia and Canada to deal with this pandemic is far, far better than miners in Latin America or Africa.

When investors start to work covid into their DD, and the ravages of the disease in emerging nations become more obvious, a premium on miners in “safe” locations will likely occur.   I believe that KL is uniquely suited to meet the anticipated demand for a gold safe haven; and is unlikely to be nationalized as might poorer nations who struggle with defaulting debt.

Who knows. They closed Lac des Isles for a month because 1 miner died and a few others were infected. Will they do that in Africa where life is cheaper for some reason?
