Whitecap Resources Inc. is an oil-weighted growth company. The Company is engaged in the business of acquiring, developing and holding interests in petroleum and natural gas properties and assets. Its core areas include the West Division and East Division. Its West Division is comprised of three regions: Smoky, Kaybob and Peace River Arch (PRA). The properties in its Smoky region include Kakwa and Resthaven, all located in Northwest Alberta. The primary reservoir being developed is the Montney resource play, mainly comprised of condensate-rich natural gas. Kaybob is located in the Fox Creek region of Northwest Alberta. RE:RE:Gotta wonder why no M AND A,SWhen Fagerheim talks about M& A I'm pretty sure he sees himself being part of the Acquisition crowd rather than the acquired. This would mesh with Eric Nutall's opinion who sees them as a potential  'consolidator'. Personally I can't see it happening unless oil prices go much higher. Right now even the big guys like CNQ and Suncor are afraid to do takeovers as they fear their share price would be punished for it.

The industry definitely needs consolidation, but there is a serious lack of white knights about. I think mergers are more likley, but even then one of the management teams would be slitting its own throat so thye are going to be tough to do in such a palsy corporate culture. Also mergers don't typically lead to a great increase in share price - at least initially.
