Surge Energy Inc (Alberta) T.SGY

Alternate Symbol(s):  ZPTAF | T.SGY.DB.B

Surge Energy Inc. is a Canada-based oil focused exploration and production (E&P) company. The Company's business consists of the exploration, development and production of oil and gas from properties in Western Canada. It holds focused and operated light and medium gravity crude oil properties in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, characterized by large oil in place crude oil reservoirs with low recovery factors. It offers exposure to two of the five conventional oil growth plays in Canada: the Sparky and SE Saskatchewan. It holds a dominant land position and is drilling a mix of horizontal multi-frac and horizontal multi-lateral wells in the Sparky area. Sparky is a large, well established oil producing fairway in Western Canada. SE Saskatchewan is a focused operated asset base with light oil operating netbacks. SE Saskatchewan operates low-cost wells with short payouts and offers potential for continued area consolidation.

As we all know, the trading volume went up big time during the first week of June, along with the price. Since then, both have petered out. But what is most interesting is the June 22 NR and the Insider buy on the 24th by Marion Burnyeat!
There is still no doubt in my mind that merger talks were ongoing before and during the big run up and of course, insiders were not allowed to buy any stock at that time.
Will we now see a hostile bid by Headwater?

hey kherson, glad you're feeling better.  i wouldn't bet the farm on a juicy takeover.  it's a buyer's market right now and buyers are looking for great assets more than whole companies.

in today's market, the whole is not greater than the sum of the parts.

I do not think that it is a buyers market any longer for a company that has proven that it will survive. The big question is, where will the price of oil be in 6 months?
