Ah, you need to be smart as a fox and be one step ahead of the shorters by issuing a NCIB.  For example WELL issued one on March 23.

"On March 23, 2020, the Company announced that that the Toronto Stock Exchange ("TSX") has accepted its Notice of an Intention to Make a Normal Course Issuer Bid ("NCIB") which shall commence on March 25, 2020 and terminate on March 24, 2021, or such earlier date if the maximum number of shares are purchased.
... In the event that the Company believes that its common shares begin trading in a price range that does not adequately reflect their underlying value based on the Company's business prospects and strong financial position, the Company may purchase shares pursuant to the NCIB. Depending upon future price movements and other factors, the Company believes that its outstanding common shares represent an attractive investment and a desirable use of a portion of its corporate funds. "
