RE:Trulieve Receives Backlash Online From Alleged EmployeesAs a canadian resident, I do rely on reddit (
https://www.reddit.com/r/FLMedicalTrees/) to conduct due diligence on the consumer experience at some of the american MSOs that I have invested in. I have read through many posts and there does seem to be quite some concern regarding the covid precautions at Trulieve. It seems like the biggest issue is simply how busy they are and how difficult it can be to social distance effectively as a result. The fact that they are so busy is great from an investor's perspective, but with the rapid increases in cases in Florida, covid and the spread of transition is definitely a big risk. Trulieve has several thousand employees in state, so it's only likely that some will contract the virus, but it is how the company responds and handles the situation that really matters.
While challenging, especially with the anti-mask crowd, the company needs to be a good corporate citizen and ensure the safety of it's employees and customers. I recall Amazon received quite a bit of critism at the beginning of the pandemic as well. As the largest and busiest dispensary in Florida it's fair to say that they face a much tougher challenge than their competitors. Trulieve clearly understands the importance of PR. While they have the best product reviews in state, the company has customer service representatives responding to negative reviews on reddit in order to facilitate the reurn/exchange process. Trulieve has very attentive management and I am confident that they will address these concerns promptly. I also think consumers have a responsibility here as well; wear a mask and keep it on, order delivery or curbside when possible, and go alone.
As an aside, I was on vacation in Florida back in February before covid and I stopped by a Trulieve location to check things out. The location I went to was modern, clean and seemed very organized. I am was greeted by a receptionist and she explained how it worked. Canadians can actually get a medical card in Florida as there is a provision for "seasonal residents" that spend 31 days in state. I follow the company on instagram, but I was actually surprised at how medically oriented the experience is compared to the dispensaries in Canada.
