Derek came on board to try to assess the company's technology assests and to find a buyer. The fact that Roger let this go to a CTO pretty much means that Derek was unable to fulfill that directive. I'm sure he's still trying, because without any $$$ in the bank, I would bet his compensation depends on it.

But I don't look good in blue, so I'm not holding my breath.
