The vaccine will have to pass all safety aspects, but the question will be its efficacy. The FDA has set a low bar in terms of efficacy, so it might be as low as 20%-30% effective, but let's hope for more.
All current vaccine candidates require 2 doses and the mRNA vaccines being produced by companies like Pfizer/Biontech and Moderna are required to be kept at -80 degrees Celsius.
Think of the logistics alone of transporting these vaccines. It will take 1-2 years to roll these vaccines out and by the time most healthy people are injected, it will easily be late 2021 or 2022.
This test is needed, but vaccines are coming and they will be used and most likely, it will be an annual vaccine that you'll need to take like the flu shot.
