RE:RE:Short covering last week Your doubts are not just warranted but factual, the summary trade report is the number of shares traded (volume) that were short trades in the 15 day period priot to the report date, those could be traded and covered daily or the next day etc.
The report you want is the consolidated report which shows the actual number of shares that remained short at the end of the reporting period. The last consolidated June 1 to June 15 report for Pyro shows an increase of 48,867 short shares making the total short postion at June 15 to be 236,153 shares short. Still waiting for the Aug 1 consolidated (June 16 to Aug 1), should be out any day.
HPQ on the other hand was slightly more dramatic, from June 1 to June 15 short position increased by 1,672,458 shares resulting in the total short position on June 15 to be 2,792,646. Significant amount considering those were shorted under or around .40 and HPQ is currently at .60. I expect some of those have been covered now, as mentioned just waiting on the consolidated report to get a better picture of where both companies are at regarding shorts.
A fun fact, short reports are available to CEO's of listed companies on a daily request basis. In other words Peter and or Bernard can request the short positions on their respective companies on a daily basis or any time they wanted to see where they are at.
Stay Safe!
