I'm no mechanical engineer, but when I see your picture of treaty glacier, I think of Ice Road Truckers and how empty versus full ore buckets work on a pulley.
In this case the full 'buckets' at the top ;pull' the empty buckets back up the glacier.
I thought I read how Ken K had no problem going over the ice to start drilling early.
Could the environment be used as an aid, not an impediment?
