Professional sports at it's common denominatorThe immense skills, determination, teamwork and heart of the individual competitors in professional sports remain as valid and impressive as they've ever been. While - as time goes on - and with every passing year, the unbridled focus and attention to money becomes more apparent and furthermore accepted by it's fans.
The vast majority of players, managers and owners originate from places other than the city that they represent in sports. The common denominator being, the amount of money that can be made when considering a larger geographical playground. Players are quick to switch countries at the prospect of greater salaries. On the other side of the coin, players who are willing to take the slightest paycut to represent their hometown are immediately adulated by the media.
A more pure representation of competition and sportsmanship - to myself - remains in the minor leagues. Where the homegrown talent - and cross town rivalries - are very real. Not simply perpetuated for the sake of making money. One could argue that boxing and mma remains true in the same sense. Wherein corporate interests may still remain. The exciting essence of where a competitor is from stays very valid and tangible.
To take it further, when the geographical truths of a players origin exists, so do the opportunities to make meaningful connections to other cultures. Take for instance the desire for Khabib to fight GSP. He desires to compete with George st Pierre not out of resentment - and with an intent to do harm - but out of a true respect for the great talent and accomplishments that GSP represents. A scenario that cuts through personal beliefs, and holds the potential to unite differing cultures in a way that may not have been possible otherwise.
Having said that I'm not against pro sports of course - but I will present to you this - and you may gather where I'm coming from already. That - when it come to pro sports - the larger the team, the larger the league, the larger the money that stands to be won. The larger the lies will be encouraged, that an actual city to city rivalries exists. When infact those rivalries exist - more in the fan's mind - than in the vast majority of the individual professional athletes themselves.
People are tired of being lied to by the MSM in so many ways, and for good reason. One of the issues at hand being that of energy. With all of the leaps in electronic / technological innovation that we've witnessed in the last 20 years, are you telling us that there isn't a more sustainable energy solution at our fingertips ?
Of course there is- any rational person can make that supposition- and as supporters of Hillcrest we believe that a change is coming. One founded on the inventions of Thane Heins and his patented technology. Throughout the ages innovation has been challenged by powerful institutions. Today is no different, and the years of turmoil and grief that it has took - to bring this technology to market - are soon to be fulfilled with the inevitable industry acceptance that is around the corner. The significance of this technology has the potential to cut through borders and cultures. Ushering in an era of renewed economic activity, based on a new energy paradigm. Which we hope will benefit the world and all of it's inhabitants at such a crucial point in time
“I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”
