How will SalivaDirect be offered?
A common question that we receive is “what company is behind this assay?” The answer is – well, there isn’t one. We designed and validated SalivaDirect using several common and already available reagents that any lab can immediately order. If one reagent is not available, there are alternative reagents to use (see table below). Thus, no new manufacturing is needed. We will continue to validate new reagents through bridging studies and will share that information here. A complete list of reagents and catalog numbers are listed in the protocol.

NOT SO SIMPLE,
saliva contains various enzymes that make the preparation for PCR tests more complicated, time consuming and costly. RNA needs to be converted to DNA. Sensitivity is compromised. Probably will be overcome but not tomorrow. May cause similar problems with ANTIGEN TESTS but I´m sure that theywill be working on it.
When all´s said and done a self-taken throat or buccal swab is not so difficult and not intrusive(much less so than a nasal swab),
1. Has it been passed yet for EUA . NO
2. Do we have Sensitivity figures yet. NO
3. Has any Saliva test yet been approved. NO
At the moment it is a work in progress
