Take a look at this post from Bernard on Agoracom. https://agoracom.com/ir/HPQ-SiliconResources/forums/discussion/topics/745301-silean-gas/messages/2279272#message Someone had asked if silan gas would be a byproduct of the QRR process and if that's a niche market he's looking for.
In his reply, in which he gives an emphatic NO, you'll notice right at the end, he says that Amprius is using silane gas to produce their silicon nanowires. And he goes on to say, "
But this is not one of the niche markets I am looking for, I am looking to replace it...". Since he won't be using silane gas, and Amprius uses that gas to produce its nanowires, and since most people presume that Tesla and Amprius will announce a collaboration for the silicon nanowires on the September Battery Day, it seems to me that means that HPQ will not be involved in that mega project.
Unless the announcement on Battery Day will be a collaboration with HPQ-Silicon rather than with Amprius?
What do you guys think?

I truly believe they only produce their own silicon nanowires due to third-party mark up if they were to buy at market, thus bringing the cost of the battery up. I also truly believe that if they had the opportunity to purchase silicon nanowires at a cost effective price through the market they would drop that part of the business and focus on Lithium-ion battery production made with 100%silicon anodes.
If I understand your reply correctly, you're saying that if Amprius could buy inexpensive and safe nanowires from HPQ, they would stop making their own silane-based nanowires in producing their batteries.
If you're right, do you think there's a chance the Battery Day announcement could include Tesla, Amprius and HPQ?
