Agreed - that's the million dollar question, and the answer is, I dont know. The only clue I've seen is that when the new Hexo beverages were discussed on Twitter, some of the exec's at Valens "liked" the announcement. Could be they're just being supportive of a business partner. Still, it's semi-interesting that 10 of 14 beverages products on the OCS are made by Valens themselves or partners. I'd say it's preferable if Valens' business partners are successful - at least it increaes the chances they'll be able to pay their suppliers' invoices.
