Confusion Abounds ... SQI has never said they are developing a rapid Covid test to determine if someone has Covid( at least not that I am aware of)
Yet that continues to be the talk on this board. Why?
Unless I'm wrong, SQI appears to be developing an Antibody test that will ascertain whether someone has HAD Covid in the past (it has been said that the number of cases might be up to 10 times higher than reported due to asymptomatic people and or mild cases). The game changer would be to determine if one has sufficient antibodies left in their system so as to reduce or eliminate the likelihood of reinfection, the infection of others, and for how long.
imagine the value of an accurate antibody test in clearing people to be able to work, travel, mix with others, go about their business safely, etc.
it has nothing to do with ascertaining whether or not someone is Covid positive at a MOMENT IN TIME.
SQI would therefor NOT be on a list of companies vying for approval for a rapid test to determine if someone HAS Covid AT A MOMENT IN TIME.
if you think about it... as important ( more so?) with this stealth disease, is determining if you HAD it ( perhaps without knowing it) and perhaps the extent to which you are incapable of getting it again ( yes there are cases of people getting it a second time) and or capable of infecting others going forward!
Also once vaccines are ready, imagine the value in knowing for how long you ( and the people around you) are incapable of getting infected, by virtue of the antibodies in your (their) system.
Maybe I'm in crazy-town but that is how I see it.
