An Ode to Columbus Day

An Ode to Columbus DayI do have a 1942 copy of Admiral Samuel Eliot Morison’s definitive 700 page biography of Christopher Columbus, The Admiral of the Ocean Seas.
-
At first I thought this may be the Father of Jim Morrison, of the Doors, Admiral Morrison.
It is confusing that there are two different Admirals here.  One has an extra ‘r’: Morison & Morrison.
-
The Admiral of the Ocean Seas was the title promised to be bestowed on Columbus as a reward for his success.
-
Christopher Columbus (31 October 1451 - 20 May 1506 ).
[A.k.a. in Italian Cristoforo Colombo, and in Spanish Cristobal Colon.]
-
To me it is Interesting that last of the Eastern Roman Empire, Constantinople, fell in 1453.
So when Columbus was born, the Eastern Roman Empire still existed.
-
Columbus’s un-advertised life before he miraculously washed ashore in Spain was much more expansive than commonly known. The red head was on a convoy to being relief supplies to the Netherlands, when the convoy was destroyed by opposing forces near the Straits of Gibraltar.
-
Expeditions to America:
First voyage (1492–1493)
Second voyage (1493–1496)
Third voyage (1498–1500)
Fourth voyage (1502–1504)
Columbus was shipwrecked in a hurricane on this last voyage, but his rescue was forbidden.
He was deliberately left to die.
Somehow after a year on an island, he found a way to get himself off.
-
Much like Nicola Tesla, Columbus died in poverty, the victim of reneged agreements.
-
Columbus was perhaps the first of our cultural heroes to be attacked by the racists who hate white people. Columbus day is no longer celebrated in California. Statues have been eliminated.
This list our cultural hero’s to be eliminated is now expanding to include founding fathers George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. What a clever way to eliminate our America.
-
I could not make this up. Their latest candidate for crucifixion is Ludwig van Beethoven.
He supposedly represents elitist white culture, even though his audience was primarily made up of rowdy ‘common’ folks.
-
Instead of blaming poor Columbus, they should actually blame the Catholic Church.
Their position was that sense the new world ‘Indians’ could not possibly be decedents of Adam and Eve, they, therefore, were not human beings, but animals. A lot of problems started here.
-
Buy the way.  Most of the pre-Columbian so-called civilizations were quite barbaric.
The Aztec’s live ripping out of thousands of beating hearts is the tip of the iceberg.
This is the paradise we are accused of destroying [LOL]. Perhaps more some other day.
-
-
Let me close with this interesting observation.
Admiral Morison’s book includes photocopies of many of Columbus’s original log books and records. One page is the original in Spanish, and the adjacent page is translated into English.
-
One of these is a letter to Pope Alexander VI (Pope from1492 to 1503).
Columbus comments:
“ It is the strangest thing, everywhere I go out here, people think that I am from the sky.”
-
I have never heard anyone in the UFO community pick up on this.
