Aphria Inc. APHA

Aphria, which is headquartered in Ontario, produces and sells medicinal and recreational cannabis. The company operates through retail and wholesale channels in Canada and internationally. Aphria is a main distributor of medical cannabis to Germany and has operations in over 10 countries outside of Canada. However, it does not have exposure to the U.S. CBD or THC markets due to the constraints of federal prohibition. It has some U.S. exposure through the acquisition of SweetWater, a craft brewer

RE:RE:RE:RE:Thanks for not taking my questions at conference...Well written as usual Dseegs; I'll be taking a closer look at Canopy because of your post. Have a bit of powder thanks to selling a few apha shares at a higher price.
Yes, good luck to all of us.

You're right, Canopy is as of now more poised to gain than Apha should the Dems win and legalize pot. However, Apha has expressed their intention to purchase a non-cannaplay in the US (like a pharmacy, etc.) to position ourselves in a similar manner to that which has made us successful in Europe (Germany). It's a different approach.
But let's be honest: Apha's revenues are still far higher than Canopy's, our fundamentals are far better, and we are taking more market share, it appears.
Regardless, GLTA longs, and may the shorts go eff themselves.

a) why did the excise taxes TRIPLE? (we would have made a profit otherwise)

b) considering apha again didn't make a profit, and to maximize shareholder value, as they claim they want to do, why not have the C-suite take a temporary salary reduction?

Disappointed in the results, especially the gross revenue. For the first time, we've gone backwards.

Good news? The US election will change the houses to Dems who will legalize pot.

How does that help Aphria? They have no in on U.S operations yet. SOme investors COUGH COUGh  Savage from Aph board come over to Canopy board and criticise them for banking on this very thing . Canopy is ahead of the game in this aspect and now Aph investors see why.

*This comment doesnt apply to most here.

Hevin , hows it goin...Yes i have been a Aph supporter and shareholder since very early on.VIC days .  I got lucky and sold most of my position on the big run up before . As of now I only hold Canopy (which i was also in early- bedrocan and Hiku days) .
I re-invested in Aph in march 2019 when it was 12.00 thinking a deal was coming and it never did. I sold after it sank to 8. I didnt mind taking this loss as i have made tens of thousands off my original investment in aph .Win some you lose some.....

I also had my Family invest early on in Aph . Dont get me wrong i love Aphria and their products but they have problems to sort out over the next 4-5 quarters, mainly balooning inventory and the atm dilution .I truely hope they scoop up a cpg company a non-cannaplay in the US (like a pharmacy, etc.) to position themselves in a similar manner as Canopy as the states market is 90% T.A.M (total addressable market). The states is the global market.period. Whoever is wasting time not paying attention to this market early on will pay through the teeth and lag behind a crowded market once the green light is given .

"But let's be honest: Apha's revenues are still far higher than Canopy's, our fundamentals are far better, and we are taking more market share, it appears"

Just like you suggested Aph has a different approach than Canopy . Canopy is focused longterm on one market. The states. Stz backing and acreage marketing their brands already is a huge bonus and headstart for a Canadian LP. Beverages going mainstream is the goal . The nay-sayers will suggest beverages are a small segment 4M cans sold in all U.S last year , but they are missing the big picture . These beverages are not 100MG like the ones out in the states that are too strong for mainstream consumption . The ones that Canadians are putting forth are poaching Alcohol consumers and some never look back . For example i know a few customers that havnt purchased alcohol coolers since these drinks entered the market . They made a complete switch (100%) to drinking these at social events and summer bbqs . Check the disruption from seltzers to get a good grasp of what these Beverages can accomplish.

Another Gem for Canopy is Bio-steel , the sports beverage segment alone is huge and bio-steel is making a huge splash lately ie Patrick Mahomes. The martha stewart CBd line (pet/human) will be big with women all across the states . Canopy has star power . Furthermore Acreage is also one of the largest license holders for all MSO's which is what is most valuable .The licenses to operate once legal.

I am not putting down Aph or comparing the two i think they have vastly different approaches and i hope they both succeed . I may even own Aph shares once write-downs are completed and i see them making moves into the only market that counts longterm .

I also am also one of the few who mentioned Canopy buying up Aphria before this latest rumor surfaced . Ask Savage about this . He was gloating and rambling on the Canopy board and my response was to becareful not to bash Canopy too hard as we might buy you guys up after your recent success of your brands . I personally would like to see this happen as they both excel where the other is lacking .

Anyways good luck and i am always pulling for sector success . Have a good one Hevin.......
