Something is obviously going on with didipio. we just don't know what. The courts waiting to give a verdict till just after the 1 year expiry was extremly strange.

Probably the only solution would have been before the 1 year expiry if the pro oceana locals had cleared away the blockade themself. with or without violence, that would have forced the government to take a stand. The original FTAA stated ( I type this from memory ) that the military would protect the operation. ofc oceana didn't want to go that way, they want to be friends with everyone.

A recent article stated that 200k jobs were lost in mining, so oceana's 1 or 2 thousand aren't that much.
