RE:RE:short interest Ah but on the IIROC's website it states "IIROC produces this report as of the 15th and the last day of each month". So the 5,656,561 total shored shares reported on May 6th 2020 was actually the total on April 30th 2020.
The next announced short report (released by IIROC on May 22 2020) was for May 15 2020, and totaled 8,951,238 shares (an increase of 3,294,677 since April 30th!!!). If you followed the next two short reports they show a decrease of 1,706,697 and then 4,499,855 respectively, more than covering the big short that happened somewhere between May 1st and May 15th.
The share price on the days of May were:
May 1 - Open 0.51 - Close 0.51
May 2 - Saturday
May 3 - Sunday
May 4 - Open 0.54 - Close 0.57
May 5 - Open 0.59 - Close 0.61
May 6 - Open 0.63 - Close 0.63
May 7 - Open 0.64 - Close 0.69
May 8 - Open 0.75 - Close 0.76
May 9 - Saturday
May 10 - Sunday
May 11 - Open 0.59 - Close 0.62
May 12 - Open 0.66 - Close 0.63
May 13 - Open 0.69 - Close 0.62
May 14 - Open 0.61 - Close 0.63
May 15 - Open 0.61 - Close 0.63
Looking at that it's very likely the majority of the shorting happened on May 8th, the last business day before the $13M (upped to $14.95M) financing was announced May 11th. Especially when you look at the volume on the TSX (I am not aware of how to check the historical daily volume from all Canadian exchanges).
