Shopping Center Developer Enters COVID-19 Testing Arena

Shopping Center Developer Enters COVID-19 Testing Arena

INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis-based Sandor Development Co. has entered into an agreement to lease parking lot space at 65 of its shopping centers across the country to be used for COVID-19 testing.

Sandor has forged a partnership with Collection Sites LLC to placed temporary, ‘pop up’ testing sites in parking lots. The plan is to offer shoppers a quick and convenient place to get tested for the virus.

Collection Sites, a subsidiary of Canada-based CapQuest Inc., will lease 50 x 100 feet of space in the parking lots.

“With the substantial traffic and regular visits to our properties, Americans will be able to make COVID-19 testing part of their regular routine and help flatten the curve and restore regular business and life for the United States,” said David Eskenazi, president of Sandor Development.

The pop-up labs will be managed by Collection Sites.  Testing analysis will be conducted by Alcala Testing and Analysis Services, a laboratory service in California.

Sandor owns and manages shopping centers in 25 states, usually adjoined to large retailers.

“As people go about their regular shopping routines at stores like Walmart and Target, they will be able to conveniently and quickly access COVID-19 testing,” said Doug Sommerville, chief executive officer of QuestCap Inc. “This is the key to flattening the curve and will help maximize the testing that is completed.”

The deal calls for an initial six-month term with the option to extend.

The initial testing sites will be placed in Arizona, California and Texas, with a daily testing capacity of 150 tests per site each day.

The first location is scheduled to launch in November. Collection Sites will charge $59 to $139 per test.
